Post Christmas Safety Check

Just wanted to share about a recent customer who brought in a bike he purchased at a local chain store.  When he and his son went on their inaugural ride the front brake on his sons bike locked up and could have easily launched him over the handle bars had he been traveling at a higher speed.  When I released the cable to readjust the brakes the right pad just dropped down in its slot and was not even remotely tight.  When they came to pick up the bike they shared with me that prior to Christmas the store had a bunch of kids putting the bikes together, that is not to say that kids cannot build bikes when properly trained but these kids obviously were not.

I want to urge anyone who has or is thinking of purchasing a bike from a chain store to take the bike by your LBS (local bike shop) if you live in the Greenville/Spartanburg area email me to bring your bike by to have  it looked over prior to your first spin.

God Bless You and your New Year, Ride Safe…
